Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, St. Aidan’s boasts excellent acoustics, a lovely Steinway grand piano, easy parking, and a supportive community of music lovers. Concerts are wheelchair accessible.

Black Cedar

Mysterious and penetrating low notes of alto flute…a dark density of harshly scrubbed cello with the metallic spangle of sharply plucked guitar notes; high bird-calls on wooden flute and low cello whispers…The piece certainly worked, and that, powerfully.- Berkeley Times

Performing extensively in Northern California, Black Cedar's accolades include grants from the Zellerbach Family Foundation and the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music, plus an invite to the National Flute Association Convention. In just three years of existence Black Cedar has performed approximately 50 concerts throughout California, and they’ve appeared repeatedly on KALW 91.7 FM in San Francisco, KKUP 91.5 FM in San Jose, and KWMR 90.5 FM in Marin County.

Performing the Flute Sonata in C Major by Bach, Romance Del Diablo by Piazzolla, Sonata in G Major K.91 by Scarlatti, La Danza Tarantella by Rossini, "The Devil Inside" by Mark Fish, Drei Nachtstücke by Stahmer, and "Sunrise for Solo Alto Flute," a newly commissioned work by Ursula Kwong-Brown.

Performers are: Kris Palmer Flute; Isaac Pastor-Chermak, cello; Steve Lin, guitar.

"New Wave SF"

A concert of new music by Bay Area composers Andrew Vickers, Emma Logan, Kyle Randall and Kenji Oh. Featuring an exciting program of works for solo piano & dancers, string quartet, piano quintet, flute & guitar duos & art songs.

Works include: “Reflecting Pools” for piano & dancers; “5tet,” a piano quintet; "Voyage” for string quartet; “Into the Wild” for flute & guitar; “Yoshitsune and the Thousand Cherry Trees” for solo guitar.

Join us for an evening of wine, hors d’oeuvres, and live music.

Featuring clarinetist Andrew Sandwick of the San Francisco Ballet

Orchestra, soprano Julia Hathaway, and pianist Ava Soifer.

Performing: Clarinet Sonata, by Leonard Bernstein, Gypsy Songs Opus 55 by Antonín Dvořák, 3 Canciones Mexicanas by Antonio Salazar,

Three Folk Songs, by John McCabe, and Two Old Birds by Jacob Avshalomov.

Also presenting the gifted musicians from the Ruth Awawa SOTA string quartet.

The benefit will take place at a private home in San Francisco TBA. Suggested donation $60. Seating is limited.

Trio MontageCrossing cultural borders in a selection of 20th and 21st century music from France, Armenia, & the U.S., Trio Montage returns to Music on the Hill in a concert of works by George Gershwin, Aram Khachaturian, Suzanne Haik Ventura, Russell Peterson’s homage to Ravel and a world premiere by Bay area composer Andrew Vickers. Violinist Eline van den Ende is a member of the Symphony Silicon Valley. She and Geordie Frazer have played with the San Francisco Symphony, Ballet and Opera orchestras. In addition to his career in classical music, Geordie is an accomplished jazz musician who has performed with artists such as Johnny Mathis, Natalie Cole,Smokey Robinson, and Tony Bennett. As a Trio, the group has performed in salon concerts since 2014.

Performers are Eline van den Ende, violin; Geordie Frazer, saxophone/clarinet; Ava Soifer, piano.

Redwood Tango Ensemble

is a contemporary tango sextet from Oakland, California. Bandoneonist Charles Gorczynski leads and composes for the ensemble, developing an original sound that is personal, percussive, challenging, and emotionally resonant. The ensemble has released two albums, including the critically acclaimed and fully original album Unison in 2016. The sextet is also dedicated to performing and studying traditional Argentine tango music. They will perform tangos, by Astor Piazzolla, Julian Peralta, Astillero, Diego Schissi, and original works by bandoneonist Charles Gorczynski.

Performers are: Charles Gorczynski, Bandoneon; Elyse Weakley, Piano; Anton Estaniel, Cello; Ishtar Hernandez, Violin; Mia Bella D'Augelli, Violin; Daniel Fabricant, Double Bass.
